Head coach Anthony Munoz will try to have his Belleville Tigers
bounce back from a relatively down year for this historically
formidable program.
He will have to do it without six of his starters from last
year. Seniors Tommy Kozak (state qualifier at 130 pounds), Victor
Enriquez (125), Robert Chapman (145), Alex Juchartz (171) and Kaare
Cigan (189) graduated, and junior Angel Enriquez will not return.
Participation appears solid, with approximately 35 wrestlers
coming out for the team. Key returnees are senior regional qualifiers
Tyler Schneider, Forrest Sampson, Brendan Papin and Dustin Staton.
Below is a guess at what the Tigers' varsity line-up might look
like:
103 - Christopher O'Keefe, freshman;
112 - Doren Garcia, junior;
119 - Brendan Papin, junior;
125 - Josh Wooten, freshman;
130 - Casey O'Keefe, senior;
135 - Tyler Schneider, senior;
140 - Carter Sherman, senior;
145 - Andrew Majewski, senior;
152 - Cameron McCoy, sophomore;
160 - Alex Landa, senior;
171 - Tyler Styrk, junior;
189 - Devin Kelemen, sophomore;
215 - Forest Sampson, senior; and
285 - Dustin Staton, senior.
The lower weights, with the exception of Papin, appear to be
inexperienced and may take some lumps early in the season. From 135 on
up, this team seems pretty solid with even the sophomores having a full
year of varsity experience.
