Judging by its track record the past two weeks, Canton's volleyball team is as ready as it will ever be to take on Livonia Churchill Thursday night in a showdown for first place in the KLAA South Division.

Canton improved to 20-5 overall and 6-1 in the division on Tuesday with a convincing three-game sweep of host Livonia Franklin: 25-7, 25-16 and 25-16.

The Chiefs will host Churchill Thursday night in a match set to start at 6:30 p.m.

"Everyone on the team was a contributor in the win tonight," said Canton coach Mary Kryska. "Our serve-receive went without any errors and our communication was very good overall."

Traci Breitmeyer enjoyed a solid night, recording 16 assists, 14 digs and three aces. She also keyed the game-one victory by notching 12 consecutive service points.

"In game two, hitting was our strongest point," said Kryska, whose team recorded a total of 31 kills in the entire match. "In game three, we started off slow, but finished strong."

Jordan Kielty added 11 kills and two aces while Kristen Muir chipped in with six kills and four aces.
