It only took 40 minutes for Canton's soccer team to prove its
dominance against Wayne Memorial Tuesday afternoon.
The Chiefs posted a robust 12-0 victory in a game that was
stopped at halftime due to the MHSAA's eight-goal mercy rule.
According to the rule, games are stopped once a team gains an
eight-goal advantage, but at least one half must be played.
Seniors Brandon Laabs and Garren Carr split time in goal for the
winners.
Junior Ryan Killgore made quite an impact in his first varsity
match, notching a hat-trick.
Shean Krolicki and Bryan Ren both deposited a pair of goals for
the Chiefs.
Single goals were tallied by Brian Berinti, Bobby Budlong,
Garrett Derian-Toth, Cody Kahrs and Dan Ovesea. Kahrs' goal was his
first varsity net-finder.
Berinti and Budlong added two assists each. Derian-Toth, Steven
Murphy, Ovesea, Griffin Parks, Tyler Winningham and Neil Zech all had
one assist each.
