Mitch Posuniak scored a pair of goals to lead Canton's soccer
team to an emphatic 8-0 triumph over Westland John Glenn Tuesday night.
The Chiefs, who host Livonia Franklin on Thursday night, are now
7-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the KLAA South Division.
Canton struck early and often, getting goals from Posuniak (from
Connor Shennan) and Kyle Krause from Bobby Budlong) in the game's
opening four minutes. Krause's net-finder was his first varsity goal.
Budlong tallied his team-high sixth goal in the game's 12th
minute, heading in a cross from Posuniak.
Eleven minutes later, Bryan Ren scored an unassisted marker off
a direct kick to make it 4-0.
Scott Piwowar (from Garrett Derian-Toth), Posuniak (from Dan
Ovesea) and Sean Balnaves (penalty shot) closed out the first-half
scoring for the Chiefs.
The game ended six minutes into the second half on Nathan
Bergeson's goal from Connor Furgason, whose through ball carried 20
yards before Bergeson's shot.
Seniors Brandon Laabs and Garren Carr shared the shutout. Each
keeper made a couple of diving saves to preserve the goose egg.
