Young Chiefs outrun Zebras

  Canton's boys cross country team finished its KLAA South Division schedule Tuesday with a decisive victory over Wayne Memorial Tuesday afternoon.

  The Chiefs improved to 4-1.

  Wayne Micah Orr finished first in 18:19, but the following Chiefs took places second through fourth: Mitch Pepper (18:25), Kurt Kowalski (18:42), Alex Krol (19:16) and Justin Kolbicz (19:42).

  Wayne's Daniel Malcolm placed sixth in 19:54 before a wave of three Chiefs -- Jay Drennan (19:55), James Hodgson (20:14) and Owen Ash (20:24) -- crossed the finish line next.

  Wayne's Avery Barren placed 10th in 20:45.

  In the junior varsity race, the following Chiefs ran well: Grant Mast (20:35), Jackson Lytle (20:44), Mace Gatzek (21:13), Keith Olsen (21:22), Brendan Noble (21:45), James Hildreth (21:47) and Jack Chaney (23:46).
