Chiefs remain perfect in KLAA South
with narrow win over Churchill

  Canton's boys cross country team edged Livonia Churchill, 27-29, Tuesday afternoon at Cass Benton Park to help set the stage for next week's huge showdown against Plymouth.

  The Chiefs improved to 3-0 as did Plymouth, which defeated Livonia Franklin.

  Mitch Clinton paced the Chiefs with a time of 17:14. Canton's Miles Felton placed second while a pair of Chargers -- Tom Windle (17:43) and Ryan Wise (17:46) -- took third and fourth.

  Bradon Conley earned fourth-place points for the Chiefs, finishing in 18:11, five seconds ahead of Churchill's Sam Yurgil and eight seconds in front of Churchill's George Bowles.

  Also scoring for Canton were eighth-place Keegan Sullivan (18:23) and 11th-place Tom Walkinshaw (18:33).

  Ben Yates was Churchill's final scorer, finishing ninth in 18:26.

  Running but not scoring for Canton were Zach Cox (12th in 18:40) and Jeff Molchan (14th in 18:54).
