Canton's competitive cheer
team is making some serious strides in just its second year of
existence.
On Wednesday at John Glenn, the Chiefs placed third, registering
671.0260 points. The host Rockets won the competition with 708.8156
points, just over 14 more than runner-up Livonia Franklin.
The Chiefs earned 202.8 points in the first round, 202.3260 in
the second and 273.9 in the final round.
"We're very proud of the team this year," said Dorothy Brown, a
member of the team's coaching staff. "Especially since this is just our
second year of being a competitive team."
The Chiefs will compete at the Brighton Invitational Saturday at
3 p.m.
The team consists of: Cassie Caballero, Rachel Cunningham,
Aquilah Henderson, Jessica Langdon, Rachel Michalik, Jalilah Muhammed,
Rachel Nowak, Marissa Woodard, Tina Bradley, Danielle Carrier, Amanda
Druckenmiller, Brigette Poirier, Lecie Scott, Hannah Wojcik, Emily
Farhat, Anna Holthus and Heidi Payter.
