Thanks to a season-best time from senior captain Bianca Kubicki,
Canton's girls cross country team placed fifth in Saturday's 14-team
Monroe Jefferson Invitational.
Despite less-than-ideal conditions, Kubicki covered the
5-kilometer course in a sizzling time of 19:08, which was good enough
for fourth place.
Also scoring for the Chiefs were Rachel Rohrbach (17th in
20:10), Abigail Gorzalski (32nd in 21:00), Emily Southern (37th in
21:22) and Jessica Siegler (39th in 21:28).
Katie Grimes (42nd in 21:41) and Chelsea Smith (51st in 22:24)
also earned varsity points for the Chiefs.
"Despite the tough conditions, the girls performed really well,"
said Canton coach Eric Pahl. "It was very windy, but they still posted
some fast times. When I looked at the results, I couldn't believe how
fast we ran.
"The times were really fast, very competitive. It was a good
mid-season meet."
