Two Canton lacrosse players perform well at national showcase

  Canton lacrosse players Matt Rodgers and Jordan Smith -- both juniors -- more than held their own at last weekend's Warrior-Diamond Lacrosse Showcase, which was attended by many of the elite prep junior lacrosse players in the country.

  "They scored goals, made assists, won face-offs and fought for the ground balls with some of the best players in the nation and they found out they can play and be competitive with these players," said Canton lacrosse coach Kevin Riley. "They did the Canton Chiefs Lacrosse program and the state of Michigan proud."

  Rodgers and Smith were the only Michigan players at the elite showcase, which was attended by several collegiate coaches.
