Canton's Bianca Kubicki was the clear-cut star of Tuesday's
P-CEP girls cross country showdown between the Chiefs and Plymouth, but
it was Canton's depth that sealed the victory.
Kubicki roared to a fine first-place time of 19:35 to help
improve Canton's dual-meet record to 3-1. The Chiefs' next four
finishers all placed in the top-eight spots, clinching the win.
Rachel Rohrbach was fourth in 20:26, followed closely by
teammates Jessica Siegler (fifth in 21:13), Katie Grimes (seventh in
21:31) and Anna Gorzalski (eighth in 22:01).
"It was a good, competitive meet," said Canton coach Eric Pahl.
"Plymouth is a strong, well-coached team. We really were not sure what
to expect from them.
"It is a big rivalry for both schools. I think we were able to
pull it out with our third through sixth runners. They were able to
beat Plymouth's third through fifth runners, which really sealed the
meet for us."
