The
9U Canton Cardinals travel baseball team locked up an undefeated
Central Division title in the KVBSA with a 13-0 win over
the Livonia Legends on Wednesday night. The Cardinals went
14-0 in their division, outscoring divisional opponents, 242-57.
The Cards are 20-1 overall in the league with one
non-division game remaining.
"From the start of the season we talked about how
each player has a role to fill on this team," said head coach Pat
McAuliffe. "They accepted their roles and we've had a little
taste of success as a result.
"Since January, we've been working with the players on
hitting mechanics. We set the tone early with the boys that every
Cardinal would be a hitter - that we would make opposing
defenses work to make outs. As a result,
we've had a solid hitting lineup from one through 12, and a
team on-base percentage over .600. We're proud of the work ethic on
this team."
