The Canton Cardinals 11U
travel baseball team won the 2010 Frankenmuth Baseball Tournament with
a 3-0 record.
The Cardinals won their first game, 7-6, over the Huron Valley
Patriots after overcoming a 6-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth
inning. The game pitted two of the Kensington Valley Baseball Softball
Association's top teams.
Collin Werner delivered the game-winning hit with two outs in
the sixth.
Canton won its final two games in more convincing fashion,
routing host Frankenmuth, 12-1, before persevering through rain delays
to derail the Saginaw River Dogs, 5-1. Saginaw entered the game
unbeaten.
The winners' received strong offensive efforts from everyone on
the roster, notably Phil Lessnau, Jimmy Walkinshaw, Jason Arnold, Evan
Voyles, Noah Spencer and Cody Zidzik, who recorded several hits in each
game of the tournament.
Spencer, Arnold, Justin Goethe and Mitchell King all pitched
well for the Cardinals throughout the tournament.
Defensively, the team was led by Goethe, Luke Hirshman, Zidzik,
Werner and Voyles.
