10U Cards add Brighton Bulldog Classic to expanding trophy case

  The 10U Canton Cardinals travel baseball team won its third weekend tournament of the season June 19-20 when it captured the Brighton Bulldog Classic with a 5-0 record.

  The Cardinals, who improved to 27-5 overall, defeated Brighton Black, 7-5, in the championship game. They advanced to the title game by ousting Adrian (9-5), Trenton (14-4), Lake Orion (10-4) and Brighton (13-2) in pool play.

  Brighton Black had yielded just two runs in four games prior to the first-place game against the Cards.

  The Cardinals swung hot bats all weekend, ripping 10 doubles, three triples and one home run. Eleven Cardinals pitched at least two innings in the five games.

  The team consists of Billy Flohr, Sam Brusca, Dominic Dimaya, Jake Cain, Tyler Newsom, Ben Kandah, Parker Selby, Danny Lanava, Lou Baechler, Evan Good, Logan Dziado and Ryan Young.
