Move over, Zebras. You've got
company on that pedestal.
Fueled by an impressive 55-31 road victory at Westland John
Glenn Friday night, Canton's boys basketball team owns a share of first
place in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association South Division.
Canton and Wayne Memorial are both 4-1 at the mid-way point in
the division schedule.
"We're playing very good defensively," said Canton coach Jim
Reddy, who held the explosive Rockets to just 8 of 45 shooting. "They
didn't have their best player, Jeremy Langford, tonight, but we may
have played well enough tonight even if they did have him."
Canton, which improved to 6-4 overall, led 17-10 after one
quarter, 24-17 at the half and 41-26 with eight minutes to play.
Dietrich Lever led the offensive charge for the winners, racking
up 18 points, four assists, five rebounds and six steals.
Kevin Weisz also enjoyed another productive night, scoring eight
points while pulling in eight rebounds.
Paul Baumgart scored nine with seven boards.
Canton shot 11 for 19 from the free throw line while John Glenn
was 10 of 14.
Canton hosts Salem Tuesday night in a KLAA cross-over game.
