Move over, Zebras. You've got company on that pedestal.

Fueled by an impressive 55-31 road victory at Westland John Glenn Friday night, Canton's boys basketball team owns a share of first place in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association South Division.

Canton and Wayne Memorial are both 4-1 at the mid-way point in the division schedule.

"We're playing very good defensively," said Canton coach Jim Reddy, who held the explosive Rockets to just 8 of 45 shooting. "They didn't have their best player, Jeremy Langford, tonight, but we may have played well enough tonight even if they did have him."

Canton, which improved to 6-4 overall, led 17-10 after one quarter, 24-17 at the half and 41-26 with eight minutes to play.

Dietrich Lever led the offensive charge for the winners, racking up 18 points, four assists, five rebounds and six steals.

Kevin Weisz also enjoyed another productive night, scoring eight points while pulling in eight rebounds.

Paul Baumgart scored nine with seven boards.

Canton shot 11 for 19 from the free throw line while John Glenn was 10 of 14.

Canton hosts Salem Tuesday night in a KLAA cross-over game.
