Plymouth YMCA Father's Day Run draws close to 2,000 competitors

  Sleeping in on Father's Day was not an option for the  hundreds of dads, sons, moms and daughters who laced up their running shoes bright and early for Sunday's Plymouth YMCA Father's Day Run.

  An estimated field of over 2,000 runners - some in search of age-division medals, others in search of nothing more than a good sweat - galloped through the shady streets of Plymouth with near-perfect weather conditions.

  The elite runners competed in the Triple, a demanding test of endurance that combined their times in the 10-kilomer, 5-kilometer and 1-mile races.

  Clint Verran ran home with the Triple title, churning to a combined time of 52 minutes, 49 seconds - four seconds faster than runner-up David Brent. Nicholas Kutzefares was third in 53:25.

  Angela Matthews won the Female Triple, finishing in 1:00.13, over a minute ahead of runner-up Erin Webster.

  Jay Owens won the Masters Triple in 1:02.38, over five minutes faster than Brian Harville.
