Salem prevails in cross-campus freshmen battle with Wildcats

Sept. 28, 2010, 12:35 p.m.

The Salem freshmen boys soccer team remained unbeaten Monday when it defeated cross-campus rival Plymouth, 3-1.

  The Rocks improved to 8-0-2.

The Wildcats led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal from Alex Decker, who was assisted by Dan Butts.

The Rocks' rally was ignited 1:50 into the second half when Mike Vernon scored off a helper from Tyler Light.

Salem's Matt DeMoss gave his team the lead for good in the game's 66th minute when he deposited the ball into the net off an assist from Alec Merlington.

The Rocks' Brendan Bird added an insurance goal two minutes later off a nice pass from Josh Eldridge.
