The Garden City Cougars will be a different looking animal this year. Starting at the top, Don Giese takes over from Aaron Davis as head coach. Last year's team promised a good number of accomplished upper-classmen intermingled with new-comers.

This year's team appears to be nearly all first- or second-year wrestlers. Even the conference they compete in will be new. The Mega Conference no longer exists and Garden City will be joining the new Western Wayne Athletic Conference.

Key losses to graduation are Jacob Johnson (140), Tyler Twigg (145), Shane Miller (160) and Josh Avery (189). Several other starters from last year's team decided not to wrestle this year.

Of the 14 wrestlers entered into the individual district tournament only Britton Borlace (103), Devin Marchio (119), Devin Ashley (130, regional qualifier), and Aaron Andrews (135) return. Garden City also adds an accomplished freshman, coach's son Donald Giese, Jr. (DJ). With all the changes taking place at Garden City, it may be a while before the starting line-up is determined. In the meantime, here is a speculative look"
