Nearly
every stride meant something during Tuesday's KLAA South dual meet
between Plymouth and Livonia Franklin at Nankin Mills.
The Wildcats improved to 2-0 in the division with an exciting
29-30 victory over the Patriots. The winners were led by Paula Green,
who turned in a personal-best time of 20:36.
"It was pretty humid out, so the times were a bit slow," said
Plymouth coach Mary Kerwin. "We still have a lot of racing to do since
Regionals aren't until Oct. 31 this year."
Also figuring into the scoring for Plymouth were Nicole Traitses
(21:16), Julie Forster (21:18), Britta Swanson (21:22) and Kelly Hahn
(21:42). Also running for the Wildcats were Julie Hahn (22:22) and
Tricia Pniewski (22:30).
SALEM TOO
MUCH FOR STEVENSON
Salem's girls cross country team continued to burn up the trails
on Tuesday as the Rocks proved to be too much for Livonia Stevenson,
15-48, in a KLAA Central Division dual meet held at Cass Benton Park.
The first six runners to cross the finish line were all Rocks
and the first four -- Victoria Tripp, Jordyn Moore, Shannon Flynn and
Autumn Burin -- crossed the line simultaneously in 21:07. Kelly Kerwin
also scored for the Rocks with a fifth-place time of 21:15.
Kara Booms and Emily Bizon finished sixth and ninth,
respectively, in 21:37 and 21:41.
