The always popular Detroit Lions Youth Football Camp is coming
to Plymouth's Central Middle School July 5-8 from 8:30 a.m. to noon
each day.
This is the sixth consecutive summer the Lions have conducted a
camp in Plymouth.
The camp is open to kids between the ages of 6 and 14 who have
beginning, intermediate or advanced skill levels.
Participants will spend two days learning offensive positions
and two days focusing on defensive positions.
"This format allows participants to walk away with a better
understanding of how the game is played on both sides of the ball, as
well as find out what positions they like to play," said Chris
Fritzsching, the Lions' Director of Youth Football.
"The goal is to help them become more knowledgeable about the
game by teaching them techniques and strategies that will ultimately
help them enjoy the game thoroughly, whether they are participating as
a player or watching as a fan."
In addition to getting 14 hours of non-contact, quality football
instruction, participants will also receive a Lions Camp T-shirt, a
guest appearance from a current or former Lions player, chalk talk and
video sessions, and the opportunity to earn the following awards:
Leadership, Attitude, Extra Effort, Future Star, Consistency, Hustle,
Most Improved and Teammate.
Camps are directed by Fritzsching and staffed by professional
educators from the collegiate and high school ranks.
The cost of the camp is $159. The camp is limited to 70
participants.
You may register your child for the Plymouth camp by phone, fax,
mail or online at Ticketmaster.com.
