Stellar efforts from Steve McEvilly, Michael Karizat and Andy
Rabe weren't enough to vault Salem's boys cross country team over Novi
in Tuesday's dual meet held at Willow Metropark.
The Rocks were outpointed, 23-36, by the Wildcats, who were
fueled by Joe Giampa and Joe Schubring's 1-2 finish.
Both Novi front-runners covered the 5K course in 17 minutes and
8 seconds, 14 seconds faster than McEvilly's 17:22 clocking.
Karizat turned in a 17:24 effort while Rabe was clocked in 17:36.
Novi's Dan Lee earned fifth in 17:27.
Also scoring for the Wildcats were Ryan Tgiros (seventh in
17:44) and Steve Pravato (eighth in 17:57).
Jeremy Drouillard (11th in 18:06) and Jimmy Daniels (15th in
18:25) were Salem's fourth and fifth runners.
Also running well for Salem were Alex Creekmore (18th in 18:52),
Tom Patterson (19th in 18:54) and Evan Bruyere (21st in 18:59).
