Novi exploded to a 20-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back
during Friday night's 61-42 victory over visiting Salem.
"Their defense took us out of our game," said Salem coach Bob
Brodie, whose team slipped to 9-10 heading into next week's Tuesday
night regular-season finale against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
"They're a very good team. They have a lot of weapons."
Novi's most potent weapon Friday night was 6-foot-8 forward
Samier Ozier, who busted loose for 22 points. Jeremy Mims was next for
the Wildcats with 10 points.
Senior Jake Peterson had a solid night for the Rocks, tallying
15 points and eight rebounds. Devonta Riley and Paul Classen both
scored five points for the Rocks.
Novi led 31-10 at the half.
Salem played well in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats
32-30.
Salem was just eight of 16 from the free throw line. Novi sank
seven of nine attempts.
