Eagle kickers soaring during early-season four-game stretch

Aug. 25, 2010, 2:15 p.m.

The Plymouth Christian Academy boys soccer team is off to a spectacular start to its 2010 season following Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Bloomfield Hills Roeper.

The Eagles' first victory over the Roughriders since 2008 lifted them to 3-0-1 heading into Thursday's 4:30 p.m. home game against University Liggett.

Dan Ross opened the scoring for PCA when he scored the first of his two goals on a penalty kick. The shot was set up when Roeper's keeper pushed PCA forward Chris Scagnetti in the 18-yard box.

Roeper scored a pair of headers - a double-header, so to speak - to grab a 2-1 lead, but Ross's second goal knotted the game at 2-all mid-way through the second half.

The game-winner came with three minutes to play when Scagnetti buried a stellar header off a brilliant pass from freshman Adam Powlus.

A complete season preview on the Eagles will be posted Thursday on PlymouthCantonSports.com, the local website that has generated close to 1 million hits in its first year of operation.
