The Plymouth volleyball team's match against visiting Livonia
Franklin unfolded as all "Senior Night" matches should: The Wildcats
won and the seniors shined.
Plymouth improved its record to 18-7-1 overall and 5-3 in the
KLAA South Division by knocking off the Patriots, 25-13, 24-26, 25-19
and 25-18.
The Wildcats' trio of senior captains excelled as Kelly Smoltz
racked up 16 kills and 10 blocks; Katie Salo registered 15 digs, 40 set
assists and was perfect from the service line; and Erin O'Connor
chipped in with five digs and eight crucial block deflections.
"I really needed my seniors to regroup and take on leadership
roles after Tuesday night's loss (to Westland John Glenn) and all three
had their game faces on this evening," said Plymouth coach Kelly
McCausland. "Kelly really stepped it up tonight. She was our go-to
hitter offensively and our block leader defensively."
Also excelling for the winners were Dani Risi (13 kills, four
aces and eight digs), Jessica Scott (10 kills and three blocks) and
Kayla Bridge, who recorded nine kills, 24 digs and a 100-percent
serving night.
