The Plymouth girls track-and-field team's injury-riddled dual-meet schedule came to a bittersweet end Wednesday when the Wildcats dropped a 96-41 decision to Livonia Franklin.

The sweet part of the bitter loss were the school record-setting performances of pole vaulter Reagan Engstrom, who cleared the bar at 10 feet, 6 inches; and the effort of freshman Madi Lewis, who broke her own 100-meter hurdles mark with a time of 16.05 seconds.

"Reagan and Madi are in good shape to make a run at qualifying for the state meet," said Plymouth coach Ricky Styes. "We've had a rough stretch with injuries, but there were a lot of bright spots today. our distance crew had a great day and we had a lot of PR's all around."

The Patriots, who improved to 4-1, built an 18-point lead after the field events and never looked back.

Megan McPherson had another big day for Franklin, winning the 1,600 in 5:32.6 and the 800 in 2:40.4.

Along with her second-place finish in the 100 hurdles, Lewis won the 200 in 26.3.

Plymouth's Becka Knox dominated the 400, winning by  almost five seconds over Franklin's top finisher.
