Plymouth grapplers are
peaking at the right time

Livonia Churchill's wrestling team was at the wrong place at the wrong time Wednesday night.

It was the Chargers' task to battle Plymouth's ever-improving contingent on senior night, a tall task indeed.

Plymouth prevailed, 56-11, to improved to 3-0 and forge a first-place tie with Westland John Glenn heading into next Wednesday's season-ending divisional meet. Canton is one game back at 2-1.

"This is the best our team has looked all season with many guys working especially hard to get more points from major decisions and falls," said Plymouth coach Quinn Guernsey. "We were able to get every matchup that we wanted throughout the dual, which definitely showed on the final score.

"Our entire team wrestled hard and we're peaking at the right time of year."

The Wildcats' seniors received special recognition for their four years of service with the program.

The night's biggest matches were freshman 112-pounder Alec Breckenridge holding off Jake Meadows, 6-5; and at 140, junior Brett Echols fell behind Churchill's Jon Bannoura, 7-2, before a crowd-raising throw led him to a victory by pin over the highly touted Bannoura.
