The Ann Arbor Skyline boys basketball program's first official
varsity game is in the books.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, their first official varsity
victory was
put on hold Friday night, courtesy of Plymouth, which clipped their
hosts, 62-46.
The victory evened the Wildcats' record at 1-1.
Plymouth will take its season-opening road show to Dexter on
Tuesday before dropping in on Salem Thursday night.
"It was a very tightly-called game by the refs, but I give our
guys credit for adjusting," said Plymouth coach Mike Soukup. "There
were 30 teams fouls in the first half alone, which is why it was only
23-19 (in favor of the 'Cats). It's tough to get in a flow when there
are that many fouls called."
Plymouth senior guard Mike Nadratowski was definitely in the
flow, posting a 21-point night to lead the 'Cats. Pat Salo finished
with 10 points while Brennen Beyer added 15 points and 11 boards.
"Our big three played very, very well," said Soukup. "But we had
a lot of guys contribute, too, which was the key to the win. Zach
Yokom, Jeff Heuer and Jake Morris did a lot of the little things to
help us win that we weren't doing last year. Those guys deserve a lot
of credit."
Plymouth pulled away in the third quarter when they outscored
the Eagles, 18-7.
Skyline, which opened in 2008, does not yet have a senior class.
