Ricky Styes' debut as the new head coach for the Plymouth girls track-and-field team couldn't have gone much better.

Paced by a record-setting performance by freshman Madi Lewis, the Wildcats outlasted the Chiefs, 79-58, in a meet held at the PCEP junior varsity stadium.

Running in her first high school dual meet, Lewis ran into the school's record books with a time of 16.69 in the 100-meter hurdles. Lewis also crossed the finish line first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.3, just over a second faster than teammate Lindsey Russell.

Isis Haywood had a field day in the field events, winning the shot put with a toss of 26 feet, 9.5 inches; and the discus, with a throw of 79-11.

Bianca Kubicki was a two-time winner for the Chiefs, edging out Plymouth's Nicole Traitses by one second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:47; and taking the 3,200 in 11:53.8.

Lisa Lipa also won twice for the Chiefs, earning first-place points in the high jump (4-10) and the 100-meter dash, which she won in 13.4.
