The lofty expectations Salem's tennis team carried into this
season are being met by the Rocks, one serve at a time.
On Wednesday, Salem improved to 7-1 (5-1 in the KLAA Central
Division) with a statement-making victory over longtime nemesis
Northville.
The Rocks were sparked by exceptional singles play, taking three
of the four matches. Jacob Scott started things off with a 7-5, 6-3
triumph over Anthony Rossi at No. 1. Brock Foster polished off Matt
Satterfield, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 and Brett Foster bettered Nathan
Albanelli, 6-4, 6-1.
Northville's lone singles point came at No. 4 where Matt Evasic
swept Michael Keum, 6-1, 6-1.
Salem notched a pair of doubles wins to ensure the victory. Josh
Perrin and Scott Devine combined to knock off Phil Lee and Austin
Weaver at No. 1 doubles while Dion Walker and Zenik Pelekh proved to be
too much for Bryce Groshek and Veer Shah, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 2.
Northville's Drew Baldwin and Brian Manney upended Cody Hazen
and Alek Zultowski, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 4, the Mustangs' Rahul Raj and Trevor Page edged Greg
Selewski and Tyler Foley, 6-2, 6-4, and Robert Hsu and Luke Jacobi
tripped up Josh Amann and Kyle Latack, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5.
