When senior captain Dan Martin missed the first few games of the
2010 season, Salem's soccer team sorely missed Dan Martin.
Martin has since returned -- much to the dismay of the Rocks'
opponents.
On Tuesday, the senior captain notched a hat trick to lead Salem
to a 7-0 triumph over South Lyon East.
The victory lifted the Rocks to 4-3-3 overall and 2-1 in the
KLAA Central Division. The Cougars slipped to 1-6 and 0-3, respectively.
The Rocks were actually deadlocked in a scoreless struggle with
the upstart Cougars for the game's first 37 minutes, but a Martin goal
just before halftime set the tone for the second half.
Brandon Barfuss had an exceptional game for the winners as well,
adding two goals and two assists.
Chris Ensor and Colin Rooney also found the net for Salem.
Jake Pascarella notched a pair of assists. Rooney, Max Nolta and
Chris Dierker also picked up helpers.
The Rocks travel to Northville on Thursday for a crucial KLAA
Central Division battle.
