Rocks dominant in 9-0 win over SLE

  Salem's girls tennis team evened its record at 1-1 Thursday afternoon with an impressive 9-0 victory at South Lyon East.

  Salem's No. 1 singles player, Allie Carpenter, got things going with a decisive 6-2, 6-1, victory over the Cougars' Lindsay Heikkinen. Also notching singles victories for the Rocks were No. 2 player Ann Norman, a 6-0, 6-2 victor over Anna McGuire; No. 3 player Morgan Spencer, a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Taylor Keefer; and Kerry MacDonald, who dominated Erin Dobson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.

  The Rocks' doubles contingents also failed to drop a set. The No. 1 duo of Rachel Norman and Ashley Davis ousted Sarah Marquardt and My Tran Ha, 6-0,  6-1, while the No. 2 team of Mallory Rojo and Ashley Walker swept Colleen Ferda, 6-2, 6-2.

  Closing out the sweeping victory were No. 3 Alex Lamb and Olivia Gonzalez, 6-1, 6-0 winners over Chelsea Mongeau and Brooke Dexter; No. 4 Ewa Zajac and Bansari Patel, who defeated Beth Nykamp and Jamie Grunewald, 6-2, 6-4; and the No. 5 duo of Emily Simmons and Lindsay Spaulding, who upended Kacey Felts and Erin Blackledge, 6-0, 6-2.

  Sarah Bellaire and Meghan Barry edged Nicole Kline and Leah Noris, 8-6, in an exhibition doubles match.
