Salem's boys bowling team split its first two matches of the season, dropping Brighton, 16-15, before falling to Walled Lake Central, 22-8.

The Rocks have registered several outstanding performances in the early going, including four 200-plus game efforts from Ryan Clark, who has averaged 238.7 in his first four official games.

Also shining have been Kevin Williams, who posted a 257 game against Brighton; Steven Caldwell, who rolled a 261 against the Bulldogs; Tyler Foley, who recorded 198 and 179 games against WLC and David Nikkila, who rolled a two-game series of 400 against Brighton.

The Salem girls team has suffered a pair of early-season setbacks to Brighton and Central despite a stellar beginning by Kristin Larkins, who has averaged 196.2 over four games.

Bridget Maul, Meghan Eldridge and Ashley Kretschmer have also sparkled early on for coach Kathie Hahn's squad.
