
Led by a
four-point sweep in singles play, the Salem boys tennis team ousted
Hartland Monday afternoon, 7-2, in a KLAA association cross-over match
played on the Rocks' courts.
No. 1 singles player Brock Foster set the tone for the winners
when he outplayed Mark Byron, 6-1, 6-0. Brett Foster, Brock's twin
brother, followed suit at No. 2 singles, when he dominated Hartland's
Ben Johnson in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1.
John Kang edged Grant Comly at No. 3, 7-5, before Comly
defaulted. Salem's No. 4 player, Andy Steinman, also excelled, thumping
Erik Seifert, 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles action, Salem's No. 1 tandem of Josh Perrin and Jacob
Scott rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Hartland earned its first point of
the afternoon at No. 2 doubles when Ross Bemben and Julian Cafmeyer
nipped Mike Keum and Alek Zultowski, 6-3, 7-5.
The Rocks captured points at No. 3 and 4 doubles thanks to the
outstanding efforts of Greg Selewski and Elliot Stout, who outlasted
Tom Mann and Nick Willis, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, at No. 3; and the duo of
Vishnu Rajandran and Karl Allen, who won a thrilling three-setter over
Jordan White and Nick Lipon, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4.
Hartland earned its second point in the No. 5 doubles match in
which Adam Holka and Kurt Norris defeated Areeb Siddiqui and Mughil
Govardhanan, 7-5, 6-4.
