Salem's girls golf team continued to flash encouraging signs of
improvement during a pair of KLAA Central Division matches this week.
Even though the team's improved play is not translating into
victories in the brutally competitive KLAA Central Division, the
numbers on the Rocks' scorecards continued to drop in a pair of matches
against South Lyon East on Monday and Nortvhille on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Salem dropped a 184-227 decision to the host Cougars
in a match played at the Links of Novi. Ewa Zajac was rock solid,
firing a season-low score of 50 on the difficult track. Also scoring
for Salem were Lizzie Mazorowicz (54), Gabrielle LeBlanc (57) and
Christine Li (66).
A prime example of how much better the Rocks are becoming each
day was evdient in Li's play on Wednesday. The freshman sliced 12 shots
off her score against the Mighty Mustangs, who prevailed on a perfect
fall afternoon at Fox Hills.
In addition to Li's 54, LeBlanc fired a 57, Zajac notched a 58
and Mazorowicz carded a 60. Katie Veno shot a non-scoring 65.
