Salem's tennis team will be taking a heavy dose of momentum into
Thursday's crucial KLAA Central Division match against Northville
thanks to Tuesday's 6-3 triumph over visiting Livonia Stevenson.
The Rocks improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the division.
Led by No. 1 player Jacob Scott's decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory over
Kevin Francisco, the Rocks swept the four singles matches.
Also notching impressive singles wins were No. 2 Brock Foster,
who was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Josh Rochette; No. 3 Brett Foster, who
bounced Vince Sabatini, 6-3 and 6-3; and No. 4 standout Dion Walker,
who rocked Marcus McCaffney, 6-3, 6-3.
The Spartans captured three of the five doubles encounters, but
it wasn't enough.
Stevenson's Josh York and Paul Franchina defeated Josh Perrin
and Mike Keum, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles while Kaeman Rayos and Chad
Northey upended Salem's Scott Devine and Zenik Pelekh, 6-2, 6-2 at No.
2 doubles.
The Rocks won at No. 3 and No. 4 doubles as Cody Hazen and Alek
Zulkowski defeated Simjae Rayos and Jacob Radiff, 6-1, 6-1; and Tyler
Foley and Greg Selewski prevailed, 6-2, 7-5.
Stevenson's Kenny Nikkla and Sam Tabor defeated Josh Amann and
Kyle Latack, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5 doubles.
