Water 'Rock'et - continued

Swimming the 500 free is one of the most grueling challenges a high school athlete can take on.

"I'm exhausted when it's over," admitted Seroka. "Throughout the season, the stroke comes pretty automatic to me. But at the state meet there's more pressure, so I have to concentrate on relaxing more."

One of Seroka's role models gained fame not far from where Seroka does her best work.

"I really admire Allison Schmitt," she said, giving props to the former Canton great who earned an Olympic bronze medal last summer. "I like her positive attitude and how she always seems to be having fun with it.

"When I was young, I used to think about swimming in the Olympics, but now I'm more focused on just being able to swim in college."

Along with the two individual events (the maximum number swimmers are allowed to compete in) Seroka will swim in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Once Saturday's state meet is over, Seroka will take about a week off before joining her Club Wolverine teammates for a meet.
