Central boys, Discovery girls
claim 6th grade cross country titles

  The Central Middle School boys and Discovery Middle School girls cross country teams turned in gold-medal performances at Tuesday's City Championship meet held at Cass Benton Park in Northville.

  Central's boys squad compiled 40 points to nip runner-up Discovery, which finished just three points back. Pioneer finished third with 62, West was fourth with 75 and East was fifth with 129.

  Discovery ruled the girls' race, notching 36 points, 11 fewer than second-place Central. Pioneer placed third with 66, East was fourth with 78 and West took fifth with 123.

  Discovery's Jamison Langlinias was the top girls finisher, covering the 2,000-meter course in 10:27.56. West's Matt Weiner won the boys race, posting a time of 9:03.49.

FINAL STANDINGS (BOYS): 1. Central, 40; 2. Discovery, 43; 3. Pioneer, 62; 4. West, 75; 5. East, 129.
