June 8, 2010, 7:15 a.m.

The White Sox edged the Angels, 9-8, Monday night in a thrilling 9U GCYBSA game played at Pioneer Middle School.

The victory was the third straight for the Sox, who improved to 3-2. The Angels are now 2-2-1.

The big blow of the game for the Sox came in the third inning when Calahan O'Donnell ripped a three-run double to give his team the lead for good. Also notching RBI for the winners were Brandon Boyd, Zach Craft, Ian Gozdor, Aaron Johnson, Jacob Oyer and Jack Leto.

Nicholas Ontko (two runs), Nathan Vigna (one run) and Justin Cooper (two hits) also sparkled at the plate for the Sox.

The Angels were paced at the plate by Logan Walkley and Carson Miller, who scored two runs each; and Kurt R., who ripped a pair of hits.

Craft (three strikeouts), Gozdor (one strikeout), Johnson (two strikeouts), Boyd (one strikeout) and Ben Wright (two strikeouts, save) all pitched well for the Sox. Walkley yielded just one run in two innings in a starting role for the Angels.

Youth-league coaches are encouraged to send their game summaries (and photos if available) throughout the summer to info@plymouthcantonsports.com. The local website is on pace to generate over 1.2 million hits in its first year of operation.
