What do you get when you mix Salem blue with Spartan green?
  First-place gold.
Salem's girls cross country team completed an extraordinary feat Friday when it placed first in the 39-team Spartan Invitational, which was held at Michigan State University.
Three Rocks finished in the top 24 and all five point-earners were in the first 36 to cross the finish line.
Junior Victoria Tripp led the winners with a ninth-place showing in 19:44. Jordyn Moore wasn't far behind, placing 20th in 20:17.
Also pointing for the champions were Kelly Kerwin (24th in 20:28), Shannon Flynn (28th in 20:32) and Autumn Burin (36th in 20:52).
Kara Booms (44th in 21:02) and Alexis Foley (184th in 23:28) didn't earn points, but they ran well for the Rocks.
Ann Arbor Huron took second with 139 points. Forest Hills Eastern (170), Northville (253) and East Lansing (276) rounded out the top five.
Midland Dow's Allison White was the overall winner, crossing the line in 19:05.
