Salem's Adam Seroka and Canton's Victor Zhang made a spectacular splash at last week's MHSAA Division 1 swimming and diving meet.

Seroka put the wraps on a stellar junior season by placing second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:40.66) and third in the 200 individual medley (1:55.56). Seroka was edged out of a state title in the 500 free by Ann Arbor Pioneer's Seiji Osawa, who touched in 4:38.24.

Seroka also anchored the Rocks' 12th-place 400 freestyle relay contingent, which also included Matt Collingwood, Noah Santer and Max Mills.

Collingwood had an outstanding meet, too, placing seventh in the 500 free (4:48.37) and ninth in the 200 free (1:45.34).

Zhang put the finishing touches on a brilliant sophomore season by placing second in the 200 IM (1:54.15) and third in the 100 backstroke (53.23). Zhang was barely nipped in the 200 IM by Saline's David Boland, who finished just .35 seconds ahead Zhang.

Saline won the state title with 325 points. Pioneer (254.5) and Northville (166.5) rounded out the top three.

Salem placed 13th with 64 points while Canton was 22nd with 31 points.
