The Plymouth-Canton Steelers varsity squad lost a
hard-played game to the Ypsilanti Braves, 26-14. Ryan Broughman played
strong on the offensive line at center throughout the game, and Cole
Selby had several carries for significant gains, but the Steelers still
came up short on the scoreboard.
Dakota Lynn employed great defensive coverage against a strong
Braves offense, while rookie Jalen Cochran, in his first game as a
Steeler, had the play of the game with an interception that he ran 40
yards for a TD.
The
JV Steelers had their own problems handling the Braves, losing,
21-6. Scott Gregor was a solid anchor on the O-line, working hard
against a tough Ypsi defense, while Joshua Stein was formidable
protecting the quarterback.
Jacob Stephan made a great sliding catch and David Dart
kept working hard to keep the Steelers only offensive scoring
drive alive.
The silver lining finally shone through the thunder clouds for
the Steelers when the freshmen team solidly defeated the
Braves, 41-20.
Benjamin Bennett had a great day running the ball, as
did Rashawn Allen, who scored the first Steeler TD. Kyle
Hein and Mason Richard did an awesome job blocking on the O-line,
keeping the Braves' defense at bay.
Danny Lanava led the Steelers defense with serious heads-up play
at middle linebacker, and Jake Cain made his own defensive mark when he
intercepted a bullet thrown for an extra-point attempt.
