It took a while to get its
engine revving Saturday morning, but once Plymouth's soccer team got up
to speed, it was tough to stop.
The Wildcats dropped a 2-0 decision to Midland Dow before
knocking off Dexter (1-0) and U of D Jesuit (2-1) in the Gary Balconi
Invitational, which was played on four fields on the P-CEP campus.
Walled Lake Northern won the title with a 1-0 triumph over Novi
Detroit Catholic Central.
"We were a little inconsistent today, especially early on," said
Plymouth coach Jeff Neschich. "When we were focused and on top of
things, we were the best team on the field in all three games. The
first game was disappointing because I thought we were certainly the
better team. A couple of unforced errors really hurt us."
Rene Meija racked up the shutout in the victory over Dexter.
Derek Austin netted the game-winning goal in the second half.
Neschich praised the play of Andrew Yoder.
Chandler Olah scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory
over U-D Jesuit. Kyle Brindza earned the win between the pipes.
The Wildcats open their KLAA Kensington Conference schedule
Wednesday night when they host Walled Lake Northern.
