One-sided win

Total team effort lifts Plymouth Christian soccer team over Washtenaw Christian

The Plymouth Christian Academy boys soccer team was running on all cylinders Tuesday afternoon during its 7-0 white-washing of visiting Washtenaw Christian.
The Eagles scored early and often as they improved their record to 2-1.
"Everybody got to play today, and everybody played well," said PCA co-coach Larry Machonga. "The younger guys really stepped up when they got an opportunity today."
The Eagles built a 5-0 halftime lead and were never threatened over the final 40 minutes. Senior goal-keeper Jordan Allen recorded the shutout thanks to a couple of stellar efforts to stuff standout Washtenaw Christian forward Mason Duling.
Don Mullett spear-headed the winners' first-half onslaught, scoring a pair of goals while assisting on another. Dan Ross, Alex Chapman and Chris Scagnetti also found the net for the Eagles in their first-half blitz.
Chapman, Mullett and Jordan Machonga recorded first-half assists.
Machonga extended the Eagles' advantage to 6-0 with a textbook goal mid-way through the second half. The senior captain controlled a slick pass from Kurtis McKenzie 15 yards out and hammered a high, hard shot into the top-right corner of the net.
PCA's final goal came off the right foot of freshman Ethan Levack, who directed the ball past the diving Washtenaw goalie and past a late-breaking defender.
The Eagles defeated Inter-City Baptist, 5-4, on Saturday as Chapman tallied the game winner four minutes into overtime.
