3rd-period explosion

5-goal outburst lifts 'Cats to 7-2 win

Dec. 14, 2009, 6:30 a.m.

Plymouth's hockey team tick, tick, ticked for two periods Saturday before exploding in the third.

Thanks to a five-goals-in-five-minutes surge in the third period, the Wildcats improved to 7-0-1 with a 7-2 victory over visiting Southgate Anderson in a game played at Compuware Arena.

Ryan Brown registered a hat trick for the winners, who were bolstered by the strong goalie play of Zac Vojcek.

The Wildcats will play two pivotal Kensington Lakes Activities Association games this week starting with Monday's 6 p.m. game at No. 5-ranked Novi. On Wednesday, coach Paul Fassbender's squad will travel to Eddie Edgar Arena for a 6 p.m. showdown against Livonia Stevenson.
